Alastair Swayn Legacy Exhibition

The inaugural exhibition Creative Director was Ian Wong, of Monash University. The showcase was exhibited as part of the 2023 Enlighten Canberra festival, and later opened at the Canberra Museum and Gallery from 11 March – 28 May 2023.

The exhibition celebrated Alastair’s architectural legacy in the National Capital, and highlighted his use of light and colour and his human-centred approach to design in his everyday life. 

The exhibition, Light, Colour, Humanity – The Legacy of Alastair Swayn was curated by colour and combined the three elements:

Light

  • Photographic images taken by John Gollings AO of significant projects by the late Canberra-based architect and designer, Alastair Swayn AO.

Colour

  • Australian designed objects from the Ian Wong Collection.

Humanity

  • A film and narrative text that focusses on humanity-centred design.


Awards

The exhibition received a 2023 Good Design Award in the Built Environment Installation Design category.
